The singer and pianist Memphis Slim, was his lifetime a huge star, especially in Paris where he lived from 1962 until his death in 1988. His tall figure, his white forelock, his long fingers, bent over the keyboard, his presence had become familiar to a broad audience, who recognized him everywhere, his fame far beyond the middle of blues and jazz.
