The Sketch label accustmed us to great records. Armistice 1918 is a major album, a record build to follow the road of a conscript from the first world war; a spectral work which pays tribute to the victims of the past. Its dissumulated and complex architecture allows Bill Carrothers's music to produce a continuous and exponential radiation generating an inevitable source of representations and evocations which plunges each one of us in what the History has of more dramatic. A booklet (or rather a splendid small book) in French and English language, explains the pianist's project, includes photographs of the time as well as poems and the lyrics of the songs.
