First edition of this album was in 1955.

Her sweet flexible voice was capable of singing both jazz and ballads.
Talented and however much under-rated, she was one of the earliest white vocalists to catch the nuances of Afro-American jazz.

She continued recording until the mid-forties, when health problems forced her to retire.
Plagued by a combination of diabetes, heart trouble and hardening of the arteries, she was near death and penniless until she was rescued by composer Jimmy Van Heusen, who arranged to split her medical bills with Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby.
She passed away in 1951.

Some muffled sputterings throughout the record.

Front cover in very good condition;
'On the bank' painting by Frieseke.
