'The recording session took place at night in the Poste Parisien studio in a very relaxed atmosphere. Jeanne Moreau, the star of the movie, was there, charmingly greeting musicians and technicians at an improvised bar. Production and technical people were there, as well as Louis Malle, who endeavoured to get from Miles whatever he wished to add to the picture. On a screen, the main scenes of the film were shown to the totally relaxed musicians. They were getting into the film atmosphere, and started to improvise as soon as the projection began.'
