After several listenings i find a comparison between this album and Duke Ellington's 'Money jungle' irrestible. The latter album, where Charles Mingus and Max Roach collabored with Ellington, had the same feeling of mutual respect among the three masters, and it produced music of comparable quality. If you've heard it, you'll have an idea of the sort of session (in spirit) that produced 'the children of Africa'.
