A near-lost European session from pianist Walter Davis Jr recorded live in Paris at the start of the 80s.
In great trio formation with Kenny Clarke on drums and Pierre Michelot on bass! There's clearly a bop inspiration driving most of the tracks here, not just in the selection of the material, but also in the way the players come together crackling with intensity and spontaneity that reminds us a fair bit of some of Bud Powell's classic live dates in Paris 20 years before this one! As with some of the Powell recordings, there's a good deal of humanity in the grooves here.
