1953 was the year of the Cuban Cha Cha Chà recognition through
the success encountered by Enrique Jorrín y su orquesta América...

The international craze born from what happened to be both a dance and a musical style gave a great material for other musicians to work upon.

On the 23rd of Aug. 1953, güiro player Rolando Valdés and his percussionists Jesús Esquijarrosa and Miguel Santa Cruz
met and decided to form la 'Orquesta Sensación'.
It was actually what was and still is known as a Cuban charanga in which Cha Cha Chà had a tremendous part.

The band will later include variants of danzón and bolero-chá plus shades of traditional Afro and Montuno Son.

Languorous to cry 'Plazos'.
Interesting version of everlasting Latina 'La Carioca'.
And...Pleasing and teasing surprise; 'Luna Azul' which plain equivalent in English would be...'Blue Moon', a fresh 2/2 rhythm swaying adaptation!

'La Orquesta Sensacion' is still pretty popular, tours are
organized frequently (Brazzaville / Congo, U.S.A.,Canada, Panama) plus recording sessions under Cuban recording company 'Bis Music'.
