The trumpet virtuoso multi-Grammy explores new territory - Jazz standards interpreted by a Classical Orchestra with guests like Chris Botti, Kenny Barron Trio or Shelly Berg. At the turn of a long career already marked by numerous awards, jazz trumpeter Arturo Sandoval publish his new collection A Time For Love (Concord Jazz). The album contains classic compositions - for orchestra and jazz trio - arranged by Jorge Calandrelli (also a Grammy Award), plus some American jazz standards by composers such as Gershwin and Charlie Chaplin. Classically trained trumpeter, Sandoval is among her influences artists such as Maynard Ferguson, Conrad Gozzo, Woody Herman, Charlie Parker and, especially, Dizzy Gillespie, his mentor. The album reflects all these influences, but also cites the trumpeter Sandoval Bobby Hackett, best known for her performances in a multi-layered arrangements written for Jackie Gleason's orchestra, and the album as Clifford Brown with Strings
